Maria is a registered Chartered physiotherapist with over 20 years NHS healthcare experience in Musculoskeletal and Orthopaedic physiotherapy. She is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and registered with the Health Professionals Council.

treatmentslide-6After graduating from Keele University in 1999 with a BSc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy. Maria gained a wealth of experience in a number of NHS and private healthcare settings in London which including Epsom and King’s College hospital. During this time she became skilled in the core areas of Physiotherapy and specialised in treating patients with back pain, neck pain and shoulder injuries also general sports injuries. Maria has many years of experience in working alongside specialist Orthopaedic consultants. She has rehabilitated patients suffering from a wide variety of orthopaedic conditions such as acute multi-trauma injuries, and planned procedures such as total hip replacement, knee replacements, cruciate ligament repair and spinal surgery.

Maria moved to Brighton and Hove in 2003 and started working at Worthing and Southlands NHS Hospital Trust as a senior Physiotherapist specialising in Orthopaedics and Musculoskeletal physiotherapy. During this time Maria also completed training with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI). Her training included (APPI) matwork level 1 which she taught in the spinal rehabilitation classes and also with patients suffering with pelvic girdle pain (PGP) or back pain during pregnancy. Her work as a senior Physiotherapist within the NHS has helped Maria not only develop a broad range of clinical skills, but also have experience in supporting and educating others, such as teaching students and junior Physiotherapists, and leading patient rehabilitation classes. Maria also has experience of working with other health care providers in developing improvements in patient care, and thus ensuring best possible care for her patients.

In conjunction to her physiotherapy skills Maria also has a special interest in acupuncture which helps ensure more holistic approach to treatment. Maria actively participates in continual professional development (CPD) to ensure her knowledge and skills result in optimum care and rehabilitation for her patients. This includes keeping informed of evidenced based research which underpins her everyday working practice.

Through MW Physiotherapy, Maria’s aim is to provide a professional physiotherapy service in a friendly caring environment. She is able to provide individual treatments and personalised rehabilitation programmes, to support her patients in their recovery from pain or injury.

Maria enjoys a healthy, active lifestyle and in her spare time enjoys ski-ing, surfing and yoga.
