Acupuncture is based on the ancient Chinese belief that in order for the body to remain healthy it requires the balance of the body’s energy to be “Qi” if it is unbalanced it is thought to result in illness.
Energy is thought to be channelled through meridians which are specific points over the body. These points are stimulated by fine needles to stimulate the body’s nature endorphins which are our natural stimulus that contribute to pain relief.
Acupuncture may be used in different ways;
Auricular acupuncture uses ear points. Trigger points also may be used when the needles are inserted into the muscle. The benefits of acupuncture are to reduce pain and acupuncture is used complementary to physiotherapy.
Our Acupuncturists are all AACP regulated and have strict guidelines to adhere to.
